#1 Don’t Overchalk Your Boxes

Most turkey hunters chalk their box calls, but many use too much chalk. Lightly chalk the paddle but not the sounding boards. A box call sounds best when the chalked paddle touches bare sounding boards, not chalked boards. If chalk accumulates on the boards, remove it with an abrasive pad or fine-grit sandpaper.
