Turkey Hunting Season Kicks Off in Florida’s Southern Zone

Osceola gobbler

It's on in Florida! Spring 2012 is here.

It’s here. Or at least it’s here — or there — in Florida’s Southern Zone, where the Spring 2012 turkey season opens Saturday.

From all accounts, birds have been gobbling well throughout Florida for some time, so I’m guessing quite a few longbeards will hit the dirt tomorrow. Within days, the season will open in several other Southern states, and before you know it, Spring 2012 will be in full swing.

Here’s wishing all Florida hunters — resident or traveling — good luck this weekend. Shoot a few for those of us trapped up North.

Did I mention it’s snowing out?
