In addition to Matt Van Cise’s historic Grand Nationals Senior Finals win, there were some other incredible turkey calling performances at the 2014 National Wild Turkey Federation Convention.
Jesse Martin, of Mt. Sterling, Ky., won the Head-to-Head competition, topping second-place finisher Shane Hendershot, of Ohio. Chad Claycomb of Pennsylvania took third, and J.R. Lanham, of Missouri, was fourth. Martin also won the Head-to-Head division in 2012. In addition, he finished second to Van Cise in the Senior finals in 2013 and 2014.
Father-and-son team James and Cody Harrison won the Team Challenge, beating out second-place finishers Martin and Kerry Elliott. Lanham and Mitchell Johnston took third. James Harrison also won the Owl Hooting championship.
Pat Strawser, of Pennsylvania, already a decorated callmaker, won the Friction division, edging runner-up Steve Morgenstern, of Missouri. Sadler McGraw, of Alabama, was third. Scott Wilhelm, of Wisconsin, took fourth, and Bobby Woods, of Virginia, was fifth.
Doug Herman, of Nebraska, won the Gobbling championship. Joe Slaton, of California, was second, and Cody Harrison was third.
Hunter Wallis, of Pennsylvania, won the Intermediate Division title.
