Spring gobbler seasons opened recently in many Southern states, and hunters
are reporting good action.

Florida’s Southern Zone opened March 5, and Mississippi opened March 12. Alabama and Low Country South Carolina opened March 15. Much of Louisiana, and Florida’s Central and Northern zones open March 19.

Alabama hunter Scott Johnson kicked off Spring 2011 with this dandy longbeard. The old gobbler had 11/8-inch spurs and a 9-inch beard.
