Everyone at the annual National Wild Turkey Federation Convention appreciates turkey calls — especially when those instruments are works of art.
Consider this stunning call from Dave Constantine, of Durand, Wis., which was the big winner at the 2011 Grand National Decorative Turkey Call Contest.
It won Best of Class I in the decorative division, and Constantine was named 2011 Grand National Champion Decorative Turkey Call Maker of the Year and Earl Mickel Purchase Award Winner.
Other winners included:
Best of Class II: Gregg Guthridge, St. Marys, Pa.
Best of Class III: Don Bald, Lebanon, Ill.
Best of Class IV: Andy Cobb, Harvest, Ala.
Rookie Decorative Turkey Callmaker of the Year: Clint Corder, Mulberry, Tenn.
Each year, a panel judges decorative call entries and selects a Best of Show call, the maker of which is named the Earl Mickel Award winner. The call is then purchased by the NWTF and placed on permanent display at the Wild Turkey Center in Edgefield, S.C.
