Friction Call Winner

From the Judges
Brian Lovett, Editor of Turkey & Turkey Hunting
"I think T&TH forum users liked Tom Tiberi's slate over glass for the same reasons the contest judges did: It produces a clear, crisp first note of a yelp and then drops down into a raspy, nasty second note. And trust me, you can ring that baby."

Tom Tiberi, 50, of Fairbank, Pa., took first place in the online Readers' Choice contest and third place in the Working Friction Call category with his slate over glass in a turned walnut pot with a purple heart striker and hickory top.

"I've played around with a lot of different dimensions on these calls and finally arrived with a call that has a consistent sound. I use a purple heart striker because I think it gives the call a more raspy sound. When making calls, I strive for a high note that drops into a raspy yelp," Tiberi wrote.
