More New Guns for 2009

Postby allaboutshooting » January 22nd, 2009, 10:46 am

While the Browning Maxus was a hot topic of conversation at the 2009 SHOT Show last week, several other new guns were introduced and created a lot of interest as well.

Remington introduced the "887 Nitro Mag" pump shotgun. Some features include a hammer forged barrel in either 26" or 28" using the Rem-Choke system, 3.5" chamber, synthetic stock and forearm, Hi-Viz front sight with interchangeable light tubes, SuperCell Recoil pad and most interesting the "ArmorLokt" synthetic finish on all exposed steel parts. This is an injection molded polymer that weatherproofs the exterior of the gun.

The 887 Nitro Mag pump will be available in black for an MSRP of $399.00 and Realtree Advantage Max4 camo with an MSRP of $529.00.

The Remington 870 "Super Slug" is a new 12 gauge slug gun with a 25.5" barrel with a 3" chamber that is fully rifled with Ultragon rifling (similar to Parabloic rifling) with a 1 in 28 twist. The barrel is an "extra heavy" 1"-diameter and is fixed to the receiver. They claim sub-MOA groups at 100 yards with Accu-Tip slugs. There are no sights but it has a Weaver rail mounted to the receiver and has the ShurShot stock with camo finish and overmolded grip pannels. MSRP is $772.00.

They have "re-branded" all the Youth guns, both 11-87 and 870, and now they are know as "Compact" models. Each Compact model will include a kit (two .25" spacers and one .50" spacer) that allows the LOP to be adjusted from 13" to 14" or at rangens in between. They also include the SuperCell recoil pad.

The 11-87 Compact will be offered in 21" vent-rib Rem-Choke with black synthetic stock ($772.00) and the same model with Mossy Oak Break-Up ($878.00).

The 870 Express Compact will be offered with 21" vent-rib Rem-Choke with black synthetic ($399.00), Realtree Hardwoods camo ($439.00) or Mossy Oak Pink camo ($439.00).

The 870 Express Compact will also be offered with an 18.5" vent-rib Rem-Choke barrel, a 12" LOP and with a black synthetic stock ($399.00).

Winchester introduced a new pump gun, The SXP Black Shadow with 26" or 28" barrels and the Influx Technology Recoil Pad. This gun has a 3" chamber and is offered in 12 gauge only. It has the Invector+ backbored .742 barrel and weighs about 7 lbs. MSRP ($359.00)

They also added a new model to the SX3 line, the Gray Shadow 3 and a new Model 101 Light.

There were many other guns but these I think, have the most interest to us as turkey and deer hunters.

I'm sure you'll be seeing these guns on the respective web sites soon. I do not have introduction dates at this time.

Thanks,
Clark

Hey Adam,

No, I'm sorry I don't. I know that Benelli is importing some very high-end and limited production guns in the "World Class Collection" but I am not familiar with the one you mentioned.

Thanks,
Clark

Reason an SBE2 cost 1,500 is cause nobody makes a 3.5 inch gun as light, reliable, and easy to break down and clean. They just feel right in a persons hands. Looks like browning might have a gun out thats as light now or maybe a little lighter. I'll stick with my remington 870 though.
