Steve's Call

Postby WillowRidgeCalls » March 16th, 2012, 12:43 pm

Steve asked for a Curly Maple acid stained call. This is a piece of heartwood curly maple with a little spalting in it, she has a few black lines with some good curl mixed in with it. It's a bronze glass over teak, pictured with a walnut/tulip striker. Hope you like the looks of her Steve. ;)

Steve,
I took the call out to the egg lady's farm and took 3 strikers along to see what they sounded like? I walked out behind the barn and ran it with the tulip and a purpleheart and a bocote strikers. They all sounded good, but when I ran the bocote a bird in her woods fired up. He came out to the picked corn field and was followed by 2 other long beards, I watched them search for that hen, and then after awhile gave them some soft clucks and purrs and they came running across the field and past her garage, into her back yard, until her dog seen them and ran them out. I'll send the Bocote striker with it. ;)

WOW, that is what I had in mind. :D It looks great Scott. I love the way stain makes maple curl really pop out. It is always a little bit of a mystery what a stain will produce on different chunks of maple.
The test results are what I new would be there. Now I really can't wait to run it. I will head up to the park to give it a test.
Steve, I love "smoked" turkey

Awesome call Scott!!
