The winter that never was has come and gone. I'm thinking the birds will start hammering early this year. Temps are forecasted to creep into the upper 60's later this week.

I haven't heard any birds yet give it another two weeks then it should start. Birds are hanging out at funks again.

Yup. Been seeing that nice 30+ bird flock the past couple days.

With the warmer temps I was planning on scouting this weekend and starting work on adding to my food plot. Hope it stays nice because I am ready for spring to arrive and some warmer temps!!!

Got to believe if the birds have not yet started gobbling, that they will soon. Insane weather. Trees are starting to bud.

This is going to be one of those seasons where you better get out the first week or so because we'll likely catch the end of the breeding season.

I was coming out of the woods Mon. evening and saw 9 gobblers traveling together. That was the first birds I saw this year and have been in the woods quite a bit. I have yet to hear a gobble sure is strange hope it straightens out soon. If this weather keeps going the way it is the leaves will be out when the season roll's around.

Jon -- I noticed the underbrush is already budding green, maples and the dogwoods are beginning to bud too. Some years opening week in the PA, the woods look very much like winter woods. I don't think it will be that way this year.

John you are right I expect to see the leaves about 1/2 way out or better by opening day. I heard two gobblers on thur. morning in the light rain across from the house and one of them thismorning again. They are right on schedule as I usually hear my first birds from Mar. 15 th. to the 18 th. every year. I dont think the weather is going to change things too much by the looks of things right now. Hope you have a great season.

went out scouting yesterday. came across a strutting tom with one hen. the tom wouldnt talk but the hen was very chattery.

Bird vocals have exploded the past week.

Went golfing back in Monroe Valley and the toms were thundering from both ridges.

Shot a 121. Too busy dreaming of strutting long beards.
