Postby mark hay » November 3rd, 2008, 12:28 pm

I DON'T SCARE EASY, BUT THIS ELECTION HAS ME MORE THAN CONCERNED WITH EITHER CANDIDATE , ESPECIALLY ONE . NO, I DON'T TRUST EITHER ONE. AS A LIFE LONG HUNTER AND SHOOTER I'M SCARED, AFRAID, SPOOKED AND FEARFUL OF WHAT THE NEAR FUTURE AND THE LONG TERM EFFECTS WILL BE FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT , LIKE ME , LOVE THE FREEDOM TO HUNT AND SHOOT. LIBERTY!!! IF I AIN'T ALLOWED TO OWN MY CHOICE OF FIREARM, DEFEND MY LOVED ONES, AND HUNT THE WILD TURKEY ,,,,,, there is no liberty in a country of such restrictions.
I COULD SAY MORE BUT NOW MY BLOOD IS UP AND I SHOULD STOP
''OLD SCHOOL TURKEY TACTICS'' ,,,, I PRAY THEY ARE STILL AROUND AND TAUGHT BY MY 5 AND 7 YEAR OLD GRANDSONS WHEN THEY ARE MY AGE.
LIBERTY ,,,,HAS A SWEET SOUND DON'T IT ?

I agree.  I get all worked up about it until I start to thinkn about it rationally.  It is true that the possibility lies that the 2nd ammendment is going to have more and more restrictions.  possibility.  Think about the lobbying power of the NRA and other organizations.  Even conservation groups like Ducks Unlimited, NWTF, Wildflowers, ect lobby for gun rights.  Then plug into the equation the amount of tax revenue in the form on worker income tax, sales tax, ATF tax, license taxes.....

My point is this.  I am terrified of the fact that politicians can whip up the mob mentality and brainwash the ignorant masses into thinking that banning guns is a good thing.  It makes me so [:@]'ing angry.  I also realize that all politicians are in it for themselves.  ALL politicians.  They want to get elected, then reelected.  They won't risk their political careers by trying to wipe out guns.  What the ARE doing, however, is chipping away bit by bit so you barely even notice.  Then one day it's too late.  It starts with something small like making smoking in an outdoor public area illegal...get used to that, then move on to the next step...

I could go on even more than I have already, so I'll give you all a break.  The important thing to do is to vote your heart.  Be an informed voter because if you don't vote, you CAN'T COMPLAIN!!!

I was blessed today.  I went into the booth to vote and did not have to hold my nose and vote for McCain; Ron Paul was on the ballot as the candidate for some obscure third party called the Louisiana Taxpayer Party or something like that.  I voted third party in '04 and promised myself that I would never again compromise my principles and vote for the lesser of two evils.  Today I was prepared to do just that until I saw Ron Paul's name on the ballot.

I pushed Ron's button for you John McCain; for you Rudy; for you Huckaby; for you Romney.  I pushed his button for all of you sanctimonious Republicans who attempted to ridicule perhaps the most principled man to run for president since Thomas Jefferson.  But mostly, I pushed Ron's button for all of the spineless so-called Americans who have stood in silence since 1940 and allowed these buffoons, both Democrat and Republican to steal our children's birthright, a free country overflowing with Liberty.  For it is we who are to blame for what is to come.  God help us all.

Thank you, Mark.  Yesterday I did as Silvestris .  I didn't vote for either major party candidate.  I voted for whom I thought shared my beliefs and principles.  Sadly, even though I actually share a lot in common with McCaine, he does not share my policical principles.  His loss.  But on 1 Jan 2009, whether we like it or not, Obama will be sworn in as president.  I sure don't like it, but I will continue to do what I have always done--give the man in the office the respect it deserves (and try to vote his butt out next round).  The next 4 years are going to be "interesting."

Guys, I am new to the forum and I have to wonder what some of you are thinking.  I agree that McCain has some views that I do not agree with, but he is hands down better than Obama.  The fact that you would take a vote away from McCain is just like voting for Obama.  You are just as guilty as the people who voted for him.  Did you really think the third party candidates you voted for had a chance?  And then there are those who did not vote because they did not like either candidate?  Again, a vote for Obama.  I am not satisfied with Obama being my next president.  With his ties to George Soros and his socialism views, I am scared to think where we will be in four years.  I would have to say that the lesser of 2 evils is a much better solution than Obama, the ultimate evil.  We as hunters are in a minority, and if we can't see that we are better off with a liberal republican in office over a far left liberal democrat wanting to take away every fredom we love, then we will be exinct before long.  And Obama will make sure of that.

Ohio Hunter, first you have to understand how the Electoral College works.  With the exception of two or three states (it is a state issue) whoever gets a majority of the votes in a state gets all of the electoral votes from that state.  In my state, Louisiana, the polls showed that it was pretty much certain that McCain was going to carry Louisiana and get all of Louisiana's electoral votes; that is exactly what happened.  Therefore, my vote for Ron Paul had no effect on either Obama or McCain.

That takes care of the practical matter.  The philosophical issues are an altogether different matter.  Once I saw Ron Paul on the ballot I was going to vote for him if it meant the election of Satan himself.  I agree almost completely with Paul's principles and I am sick and tired of voting for the lesser of two evils.  McCain did not represent my values; he was just somewhat better than Obama in my opinion.  The principles of both McCain and Obama will lead to the eventual destruction of this great nation.  The founding fathers would not believe their eyes and ears were they able to watch and listen to either of these bozos.

Remember the Republican debates and how McCain, Romney, Huckaby, Rudy  and the mainstream media did all they could to ridecule Ron Paul.  I have a better one for you if you have the time.  Utube the Republican debates and watch in retrospect what was successfully done to silence Paul's message.  This time, don't allow yourself to be swayed by the smoothness of the other candidates and the MSM.  Listen carefully to the words of Paul and the words of the others.  Republicans were sold a pig in a poke and the party deserves it's present condition.  I am all for a new party.  This one has been tarnished so badly that I fear it cannot be returned to a merchantable condition.

Ohio Hunter-

When you vote for the "lesser of 2 evils" you are still voting for evil.  It is, in my opinion, because people have been voting for the...close enough...better than the other guy....straight ticket....ect, that we have watered down conservatives and uber liberals.  I voted 3rd party, not because I thought he had a chance--I'm in NY for crying out loud!!!  Blue as it gets--but because I was not going to accounce by voting for him, that Mcaine was MY choice.  Why do you think that nealry every Mccaine supporter bashed Obama instead of praising McCaine?  less of 2 evils is not good enough for me.  I'm not goingto vote for a liberal republican because that not who I want to run the country.
