Bald Eagles Prey on Turkeys

While on a deer stand Sunday a flock of turkeys went to roost across the valley from me providing a very good view of the action as they settled in for the night. Suddenly the turkeys started excited cackles while a bald eagle was flying in and out the tree tops the turkeys were scrambling up and down the limbs trying to stay out of harms way. After about 15 minutes of this drama the eagle snatched a poult off a limb and flew away with the screaming flopping victim.

That must be a 1 in a million chance to witness. I have never seen any predator catch and kill something let alone an eagle.

Yes that had to be a once in a lifetime site ! While in Wyoming I saw thae same thing almost with sheep, the bird picked up a small one and with one swoop rose about 300 feet and dropped it !

the eagle in wyoming arrowsonly seen was droping the young sheep to kill it they tend to kick scream & fight while they are being carryied off to be eat n by the eagle they will knock young deer/sheep/elk off of steep slopes to get a eazy meal!!! i live in the sub burbs and i have seen eagles swoop down and crash threw my big cottonwood trees to try and catch our old boston terrier dog & swoop down on our peacocks many times big chickens also!!! ive seen 3 kinds of hawks do the same thing and catch dozens of my chickens!!! same with greater horned owls i scare them off routinely from my farm at nite they land next to a chicken at nite & then figure out how they are going to get there hot meal home!!! they also eat tons of young turkeys in my area them and coyotes!!! turkeys get it from all angles
