IL. fall gun hunt

Postby fallhunt » October 24th, 2011, 12:43 pm

IL. fall turkey season opened sat. I was out fill my 2nd archery turkey tag and scout.Called in some birds at 9 but no shot. That afternoon got some birds roosted for the opener.Set my buddy up in the spot and I hung back 200 yrds.He had a bird drop in at 15 yrds. and he was done.We moved around on the others but they gave us the slip. They rest of the day was a blank.Sun. I went to my slam dunk bow spot with a gun and dumped one as the flock came up hill to my calling. The rest of the day we were in birds with bows in hand.He missed a 6 yrd. shot and I missed after slipping into them and calling a flock in.It was a little thick for an arrow to make it, my small opening was to small.A good weekend with friends on IL. public land.

I'm glad you had a good time. It's certainly great to be in the turkey woods this time of year.
