For anyone getting into collecting calls, this is the mother of all turkey calls for collectors. Preferably one in better shape than mine here. They were sold out of Simmons Hardware store.

That is a fine looking call Rich, I like an old call that has had some usage it gives it charactor.

I've looked at the inside of the call and of all of the Gibson's I've seen I've never seen one with mortise marks on the bottom of the sound chamber . In addition most of the Gibson's have very sharp angles on the sides of the sound chamber .

Is the lid embossed ?

Did you sell the call as an original Gibson ?

Gibson sliced the bottom on his calls off and then re-glued the bottom after shaping the sides etc. Gibson's calls don't have forstner bit marks at the bottom of the sound chamber .

Yes of course. This call was looked at by a few well known Gibson collectors and also had a solid chain of custody letter. Gibson did a lot of different things with his calls. I think he may have been the first to use cocobolo as well.
