Who makes the best choke?

I know this is going to get a lot of different answers. Just wondering what everybody likes. I know it all depends on what the gun likes, but i know everybody has a certain choke they like. I have had good luck with Carlson chokes.

I use an Indian Creek Black Diamond on both my Browining Gold Ultimate 12Ga and Remington 870 express 20Ga.  I can consistantly put 15-20 pellets in the targets head at 40yds with either one.

Hey Donald,

I shoot a lot of different turkey chokes made by different manufacturers. I see better results with some than with others. The good news is that most will throw patterns that will kill turkeys at reasonable ranges, with the right shotshell.

Carlson, Pure Gold, Wright's, Swarm, Hevi-13, Strangler, SSX, Rhino are just a few that I have seen give good patterns.

Hi Clark
Do you know anything about the Browning Full Strut choke tube I just inherited one.
It is tight .640 and it has been too wet and windy to try it out yet hopefully you can give me some insight on it before I get started. Going to shoot it on a Browning Gold 3.5 24" bbl.

• Wrights® Swarm™ .555" for Pb
• Hastings® .570" for HTL

Hey Jon,

What I've found in all chokes is that it's really all about the internal geometry. I like the exit diameter of that choke, it's very  similar to the SSX but the geometry is different.

I'd recommend some 3" Hevi-13 "Bronze" shells with 2 oz. of #6 or #7 shot.

Some of my Invector+ guns do very well with that choke and some not quite as well. I think it's a good choke over all.  I'd be sure to "deep clean" everything prior to patterning with it.

Thanks for the reply I did the deep cleaning and shot it with 2 3/4 and a few 3" shells.
It patterned well from 20 to 40 yds. however the 3" were 1 7/8 oz. lead Super X and Rem. 4x6. I am going to do the fine tuning with the hevi shot today or tomorrow and will let you know the results.
