Two questions....

[Everyday Hunter]

It looks like I will have the chance to hunt deer in Ohio this year, and I'm thinking also of hunting spring turkeys.

Question #1: How does the hunting license year run? In other words, are spring gobbler season and fall deer in the same license year?

Question #2: I"m set for a place to hunt deer in southcentral Ohio, but I need a place in northeast Ohio to hunt spring gobblers. (I'll be driving over from Pennsylvania.) Can anyone direct me to a landowner, an area, or to a public hunting ground that offers a good chance of success?

question #1 yes it runs from the end of Feb. to the next year end of Feb.   question #2 there is a lot of public hunting in the wayne nat. forest. Go to ODNR, and I think you can get maps. I'm going to Penns. to hunt turkeys this year, is there good hunting in the southwest on public land.

Thanks. What you've told me is that I can hunt spring gobbler and fall deer and buy only one license -- plus the tags for both turkey and deer.

I plan on hunting deer down near the Wayne National Forest, but need to hunt turkeys much farther north -- maybe in the Jefferson, Ohio area. As for turkey hunting in southwest PA, I don't know that area well enough to say. Sorry.

Yes Steve, thats how I understand it, its not like Missouri where you have to buy a turkey license for 200.00, and then a 200.00 deer license. The out of state annual license is 125.00 plus 24.00 for a single tag of each. If i'm not right let us know, anybody.  Gary

I don't know anything about pressure on these areas.

If you wanted to go as far south as Cambridge, salt Fork Lake wildlife area and Egypt Valley is really good.
