I just sighted in again with Hevi-shot blend and #6 loads with the scope mounted and changed out the xtra-full for the full choke because of same fear of missing at close range. Still dropped 30 kill pellets in head/neck target at 38yards. while Winchester loads could only muster half that amount.
roughrider out.

I killed two gobblers with the magnum blend since my last post they sure do bust them up but it is easy to miss with a pattern that tight if I was going to shoot them exclusively I think I would open the choke to .675 or 680.

Magnum Blend out of my 870 with a 26" barrel and .660 Rhino choke: 188 pellets in 12 inch circle at 48 yards (I used a laser range finder). Best load ever tested, and that includes Nitro 4x5x7.

Yes, they kick like a mule...thank god for that new lead sled!!!

Note that neither Magnum Blend or Nitro results out of my Benelli SBE do NOT equal this with either a Rhino .660 or SSX .663. The bird still has multiple pellets in the kill zone, but nothing this dense. 3" Hevi #6 in the 2 oz. "bronze" load patterned for beans out of the Benelli, which is funny, because the 3-1/2", 1-3/4 oz. #6 load of Hevi Shot (1090 fps) patterns beautifully at 40 yards and has stoned toms at 42.
