1905 Gibson box call

Don't know if anyone seen, but on e-bay there was an auction for a 1905 Gibson box call that went for over 27 thousand dollars! That's right I said 27 thousand!!! Didn't realize these little trinkets could be so valuable. WOW

They dont sound that good they are very highly collectible calls that is why they bring the extremely high price.
Henry Gibson held the first patent on the box call and the call that you commented on was very rare due to the shape and the engraving on it. Hope that helps.

Jon is right, they don't sound that good. I sold my 1905 Gibson with a chain of custody letter early this year for $500.

That was the second one they had on there lately. The first one was built prior to his patent and sold for just over $30,000.
Your right Jon a Gibson call isn't the best sounding call in the world, because of what they were made from. Gibson used cedar for most of his calls, and with that design it was to soft of wood to play desent, that and the fact that most modern day callers try to play them like you would a Cost style call and you can't do that. They have a very unique way of playing and if you try to run them like a Cost style box they sound like crap.
