Iced Covered Snow killing turkeys ??

Postby tex3012 » February 15th, 2011, 4:38 pm

Here in southeast, pa we had severe ice and rain that made a coating of nasty ice on top of the snow that lasted for weeks.. Do you think this caused damage to the turkey population ??

We have a hybrid Snowshoe-Eastern turkey up here. They get around great in the winter, but fall off of the roost a lot.

I don't think there is a problem in the midstate but could be up north. I don't know if they had the ice up there but I do know their mast crop was very poor this year.
I will be headed north soon and see what I can find out.

Here in Pa. we supply our birds with a bag of corn and limb restraints right after the first of the year.
