Got Turkey Pup

Postby charlie elk » February 7th, 2011, 1:39 pm

Allow me to introduce Vic my new fall turkey hunting buddy.

He couldn't wait to sniff out some of the gear.[:D]

But then the rich smell of turkey over powered him into deep dreamy sleep.[;)]

Congrats Charlie.

Hes a cutie. Viszlas really are, I've had 2 and they are so loveable.

Enjoy him, they grow up too fast.

Not too elbow in on your post, but I couldn't help it when I saw Vic sleeping on the tail Feathers.

I got a new pup (Pine) 2 years ago and he was "comfortable" with birds too.[:D]

Hey anyone with a turkey dog feel free to elbow in! There is lots of room. [:)]

Great picture treerooster of Pine.  Is that a WI tag on the turkey?
Do you get up this way in the fall?  If so let me know and we'll hookup for some turkey dogging fun.

Good eye Charlie. That is a Wis tag on that turkey. That was spring and I go to my cabin for a couple of weeks and bring my dogs along. I couldn't believe he fell asleep on the turkey. [:D] I did not put him there.

I do go to Wis in the fall, but Pine is a grouse dog. Sorry, didn't mean to mislead you.

However he did find some turkeys in Colorado this fall. Busted a bunch and even pointed and held a single hen. I could have got her but she was out of season then and I did not have a tag anyways.

Man those folks look familiar, thanks so much Dewey. The 1st pic is of my Brittany Kee-Kee she's not quite 2yrs old in that picture. The second picture is of me and fellow hunter Tad Robertson with Kee-Kee and the birds we took this fall. The last picture is of us and Gratten Heplers Brittany Missy. To those out there that have never tried turkeydoggin you should really give it a try if you ever get the chance. There's alot of work that goes into training a dog but anyone who's ever done it knows the rewards are well worth it when it all comes together. Thanks Todd
