Yea, I keep thinking about the longbeards that I know about from last season, especially the one that snuck up behind me and caused my first miss after 9 straight. He's gonna be even bigger and badder this season. I still see him on the ridge from time to time.
I haven't seen any strutters in central KY yet but I have heard several birds the past week. I will be doing a little coyote hunting this weekend and I hope to make visual contact with some birds, especially strutters!
I live in Telford so I hunt anywhere around here that I can get permission. I also hunt the Cherokee National Forest(killed my first 20 or so birds there). There is not the birds there that there used to be so I hunt private land more than ever. It's a whole different ballgame for me. I used to go to go to the big woods to find gobblers and now I'm in the small woods! I got drawn for Chuck Swann Wildlife Mgt. Area last year and did'nt even go. I will be going to Land Between the Lakes and Henry County in the spring though. It's been two years since I tagged out and I don't want it to be three. Three years ago I tagged out in 9 days and almost went crazy for the rest of the season. Where do you hunt?
I live in cater co. and hunt mostly national forest land.I got draw for chuck swann last year before season started when down only 1-day and did not see any turkeys.I have been thinking about going to LBL to hunt maybe one day I will make it.It been 2-years since I tag a turkey maybe this year I can close the the deal on one of those that got away from me last year.
Same here, 4kings. Youth season started today. We heard 2 birds this morning from the roost. They flew down and joined hens, did'nt have time to stick around due to a ballgame.
Can't wait till it starts, thankful when it's over
