Thanks guys. My brother told me I would be crying for passing on a real small spike opening weekend, said I couldn't eat horns. I had my doubts too, but with this week off I was confidant I could fill a tag. I really did not know how big this buck was. I saw rack through the brush and that he was limping bad in the front. When he cleared the brush I shot. At the shot he took off. Not being used to having more than one chance I was slow on the second shot and it went wild. The third shot was level with the first, but futher back and as I found out later not neccessary as I double lunged him on the first shot. I watched him go down and expire. He left a blood trail that a blind man could follow. My van still smells of rutting buck.
Steve, I love "smoked" turkey
