Field or Forest for Fall birds

Looked through some old topics and didn't see this one. 
 
For hunting fall birds is it better to hunt the fields or the woods?

I prefer woods . Bigger the better . Ridges with saddles and transitions from cedar thickets to hardwoods . Been quite a while since I hunted a field .
 These Southern Ohio birds run those transition woods on a regular basis.

Everything is about food, where the food is is where the turkeys are. Every season is different. If I could only hunt one in the fall woods is my choice.

Hey Arnie. I get my fall birds with my bow while bow hunting deer and it's in the woods every year.

Might be a good idea to check fields and other openings on rainy days.

I hunt the woods but always check the fields the birds are still feeding on the grasshoppers and other insects especially in the early part of the season.

Hey Arnie,

For me it depends on the time of day and the area I'm hunting. I've shot fall birds in both in fields and woods. Early and late the woods works best for me but fields of cut over grain can be very productive in the middle of the day. Either way, it's a lot of fun. We have just over a month until the fall season here and I can hardly wait.
