yes bruce it is at least the why i do it in the fall i try to locate a flock of birds and break them up and find a good spot to hide and call them back to you . some people use dogs during the fall as well as for reading turkey and turkey hunting mag puts out a great fall issue every year. i love fall season . good luck and good hunting[:)] wayne

gobbler flocks,
broodless hen flocks,
1 1/2 year jake flocks ,
hens with poults ,

and possibly any mixture of age and sex flocks .

Spring finds us hunting toms as the flocks continually break up and get smaller , with the hens going to nest .
Fall finds us hunting the same birds as the flocks grow in number .
Fall is a great time to be in the woods to see and hear the activity of the wild turkey.

Fall is different than spring in that there so many more ways to hunt and tactics to use.Dogs, find and flush, walk and call the list is as long as the fall season.Steve's book is a good start.

I can't wait to post a picture here of my first turkey. Of course I have to get the first turkey. Hopefully, I can complete the job in the fall.

Best of luck you will like the fall season. Do a lot of scouting and have a good pair of boots.
