Larry, you were right, those are sweet looking box calls.  Question, do you find that the grain pattern for the paddles has an influence on sound quality? I noticed the last box you show has a distinctive straight grain pattern.

Yes Scott, grain pattern does play a large part in all paddle stock, yet with Cedar, as it is so very soft, it plays less of a role in tone and pitch, as would say harder wood such as Walnut, Hickory, Cherry or Purple Heart. As a matter of fact of the 4 calls pictured ( I forgot to post one of the three), the call you've mentioned has the softer paddle, and will be sent to whomever becomes its owner with an extra, harder paddle, that will increase it's functionality. A cedar paddle will always require more attention and maintanance than will hardwoods, and most turkey hunters don' wanna tune thier calls. They just wanna stick the key in the ignition, turn it on and go. That piece of cedar would be graded #1 clear.
