Tomorrow it starts...

At last spring gobbler season is here. It opens tomorrow, May 1. I want to take my dad out with a call we've made together. This morning I heard 4 or 5 gobblers sounding off, and I think we'll go after them in the morning. They're quite near a road, but my dad, who's about to turn 81, can't walk far without getting serious leg cramps the rest of the week.

I'll be surprised if other hunters aren't targeting these same birds, but that's what we're going after. This afternoon I might get into the area and set up a blind. Hopefully, we can knock one off on day one.

Was also out at dawn before work, heard 3 birds. Same position as last spring. Hopefully I know where they are heading off the tree.
