Indiana Youth Hunt

I took my 3 boys out this past weekend for the youth turkey hunt on the Pigeon River state land. This is their first year turkey hunting and one of my twins was fortunate to get his first gobbler Saturday @ 8:05. The other 2 didn't fill their tags yet but had a blast trying to.
Tyler's bird had 10 1/4" beard, 7/8" spurs and weighed in at 17 1/2 lbs. He dropped one of the two birds that were only 12 yards away.

IS THAT A SCOPE BITE BETWEEN THOSE EYES!! Thats awesome Good job on your bird little dude, I love to see the new hunters and hearin the stories. Congrats again!!!

Congrats on the bird.  And yes is that a scope eye?  If it is, then tell him not to worry, because I had to have my forehead superglued before.[;)]

yep, the scope got ahold of him. I don't know which one hit the ground first, Tyler or the turkey. As you can see he still wasn't feeling to well for the picture, he said it hurt to smile. He was tickled about his first turkey especially when he learned it was bigger than my first turkey I took last year.

Congratulations to you and your son!

I took my nine year old out Sunday. We worked a tom for an hour and a half. The closest we could get him was 50 yards. That is too far of a shot for him so we let him walk. I may take him out later in the season after I fill my tag.

Congratulations to you and your son Hargis!  I also had the pleasue of taking a youth out turkey hunting this past weekend and my 10 year old nephew connected on a nice gobbler here in MN.  It was really cool to be able to guide my nephew on his first hunt and it was even better to help him harvest a mature gobbler.
