Last 2 weekends proved slow with 2 birds located on 2 new and different Game lands for me. Birds are breaking up as I've seen hens and gobblers alone. Some snow was still on the roadsides up north this weekend. Gonna hit the honey holes for the remainder of april and the heat this weekend will probably complete break-up of flocks.

Sunday morning at 6am located another Monroe county gobbler who has a real disdain for crows [sm=rolleyes.gif]. Have still to see anyone locating birds at dawn. 2 single hens too. Seems male count is light this year as I have found only one area with multiple gobblers hanging together.

You'll love this, I work at a place that has a club on their property and we could hunt with guns until last friday when they eliminated firearm use. 500 yards behind the parking lot is a piece of woods about 30 acres with 30 or so birds there. We can watch them from the silos out in the field all day long. I got 8 different jakes 2 years ago on camera an now there are 4 mature birds strutting all day in that field. I had plans for a blind in the corner at the woodline. I'm pissed.

Was out up north saturday at money spot for me. Was a time a couple years I heard 8 different gobblers in a 1/2 sq.mile area. Only one bird sounded at dawn. Game commission bulldozed good jeep trail with lots of grass and activity years past. Later around 9am I raised another bird but road access is too close to him. Even though I located 4 birds in different locals 5 miles apart, it is looking lean right now.

It is getting better here Mon. not much activity today it picked up some but the birds seem to be moving around from day to day. Keep a eye on them sounds like you will have some good hunting ahead of you.
