Hevi-Shot Magnum Blend?

Postby gfrizzell » February 24th, 2010, 5:45 pm

I currently use an 870 SuperMag and shoot Winchester Supreme No. 5 shot 3 1/2. After patterning my gun with many different loads and several bruises they worked best for my gun. Has anyone used these Hevi-shot magnum blend shells which include 5,6, and 7 shot? Where can I order these online? I can't seem to find anyone that currently has them in stock. Any help would be appreciated.

Once I discovered thet existed yesterday, I found them at Cabela's. They are about $21 for 5 shells.

Man, when you start talking upwards of 4 bucks every time you pull the trigger, I hope you get your gun patterned sooner than later. I think I'll stick with my Federal #4s, they haven't let me down yet.

I started using the Heavy shot last year and before I swore I'd never pay that much for shells. Now I wouldn't go hunting without them. I also have an 870 Mag with a 23" barrel and I shoot #6 Heavy13 2oz. with a Kicks GT 665 choke. There not the magnum blend but why change what works plus there a little cheaper at $16.99 for five.

Well, cost factor aside, that's an awesome pattern you have there Carlton. I wouldn't change anything either!

Had a hard time till I tried the blend load, 3.5" 5-6-7 out of an xtrema 2 and landed 300 holes at 33 yards and it looks like over 90% in the 10" circle.

The Magnum Blend gave me the following in a 10" circle useing a .665 choke in a 24" bbl. Super x2 Winchester.
30 yds. 98%.
40 yds. 278.
50 yds. 240.
60 yds. 125.
That load is awesome it has the Winchester Elites beat pattern wise but there is more shot in the Magnum Blend. I will have the Mag. Blend in the chamber backed up with Elites. The Mag. Blends kick like a mule I wouldn't shoot them in a pump if you are recoil conscious just saying.

Killed one @ 64 yrs 04-21-10. They're patterning better for me than the Nitro Brand.
