License Draw Update

Postby charlie elk » January 21st, 2010, 1:06 pm

If you check your drawing results in WI online license section and Result Box says this-
Drawing Results
Permit Awarded: No
Details of award: [:o]

DO NOT PANIC.
I checked with the DNR - they are not drawing until January 29. Notices will be out in the mail by Feb 1. You will however be able to check online on the 29th. I however obsess so I will check everyday next week and update you all if WDNR moves on this any faster.

Man I hate this waiting[:@] -- got travel plans to make.

charlie

They had the draw today. Spring Permit Availability is updated and shows how many leftover permits there are.

I checked my file but it is not updated yet, so personal online info is not there yet. But I do know that I drew my 1st choice which is 5th season.[:D]

Got my notice from WDNR a few minutes ago regarding all the leftovers. Lots more leftover tags than last year must indicate the number of applications must have dropped off.

Yea you got your first choice in the 5th.[;)] congrats.

Are you going for a second tag?

Oh yeah. I will try for 6th season next, that will give me 2 weeks to hunt in Wis. Then if there are any tags left after that I will get a 3rd tag for 5th or 6th season, whatever is left, just to have a keep on huntin tag.

Treerooster, you sound like my kind of hunter - hunt till you drop and then hunts some more.
WI has a strange pain in the neck system, but if you have the patience you can work it for a lot tags. Last year I managed 6 tags, where else can you go and get a chance for 6 birds in one state? This year looks like if I combine units and get very lucky a guy could land more.
Someday they'll change it but until then we get to be hunting fools. [:D]

They still have not posted my personal results. [&:]
Meaning I don't know what season I have. Need to know before the 31st - the deadline for Wyoming's bonus tag draw.

What unit do you like to hunt in WI?
Ever try our neighbor MN?
They drew me for second season.[:)]

Yep a lot of extra tags left, almost 4000 in my area, and if I hunt the other side of the road there is 28,000 tags left. Getting a couple of extra tags shouldn't be a problem. [:D]

I hunt zones 2--3--7

I hunt on the other side from you in units 1-4 & 3
We are living in the good old days of turkey hunting........
Not sure if I'm suffering spring fever or turkey fever.  Most likely both because I really hope it doesn't snow on me in the early season.  Wouldn't be the first spring gobbler I have shot in a blizzard.
Need to careful that the red head in the snow is not Rudolph's nose. [:D]

I hunt in zone 4. Got a log cabin up in Price Co and go back there for that as much as turkey hunting.

Haven't tried MN yet. I get real busy turkey hunting CO, NE, KS, or where ever I can. Then head to WI for what I call the MEAN season. Lots of ticks, LOTS & LOTS of mosquitoes, and very little sleep. Heck it gets dark so late and light so early, if you roost a bird back in a ways, you might as well stay there.[:D]

My daughter is 10 and didn't mention anyhting about being interested in turkey hunting until after the application deadline. So does anyone have any idea as to what kind of information we will have to provide to get her a surplus tag so she can hunt under the new mentor program?
Of course this is hard. If it was easy everyone would do it. The HARD is what makes it great!

I just found out I drew a tag for Zone 1 Season D.  I am pumped.  I grew up in Southwest WI, but live in Iowa now.  Last year was the first time I had been back hunting in WI since I moved in 1998.  I had a blast hunting with one of my buddies from up there.

There are a ton of leftover tags for that season, so can I get a second tag for the same season I drew?  If so, can you shoot them both on the same day?

Thanks
Dan
