Mine starts in East Texas, then to western OK and NW Texas, Kansas next, and ends in Missouri.

A few years ago my son and I hunted the panhandle then worked our way across the state to fill all our tags.  Fabulous hunt.  Been thinking about trying for a repeat this year.
Is the population in good shape?

Sorry, for some reason I could not post. Turkey population is very very good, best it been in years, we had a great hatch last year. Me and my son hunted black kettle this fall and almost every road we drove down we saw 75 to 125 turkey in a group, yea u heard that right !!!! hope this cold weather will stay till season so the huntin will be as good. Last spring was perfect, every morining it seem like i heard 5 or 6 toms at day light.

Talked to a buddy of mine Friday. Said they counted near 300 birds in one square mile near Mangum. Said birds were everywhere, with lots of young birds.

Sounds very good indeed.  We started hunting Optima on our last hunt.
Killed my first OK rio  gobbler  on the first day while crouched behind a yucca bush calling to em on a wingbone.  7 came walking right into range.
Should come down and try for a repeat just to prove it wasn't just luck.[:)]
