Just got home from a three day hunt in Ky. I wasn't sure how much hunting I could do, as I struggle climbing even a simple hill. But I figured I'd hunt some valley log roads and be a cheerleader for my buddies. Well my local friend down there took me to an area with some rolling fields and a couple old log roads to walk. In one of them we caught a group of last spring's Jakes in the field and we were able to get into the woods behind them. A couple hard gobblers clucks followed with a pair of course yelps and they broke and run right into 20 yards from us. I picked out the biggest to shoot, but he stopped behind a tree then all of a sudden spooked and flew, so I pulled over on the next clear bird and dropped him(in my condition I wasn't about to be picky).
I have had a good year, that makes 6 gobblers in two states for me in 2009. I got one more gun tag left for Ky and I'll probably go down for the December season and try to fill it, but I can't shoot anymore gobblers. so a nice plump poult would be in trouble.
Attached is a picture.
PS The beer can is not mine, i never noticed it untl now...LOL
