Winners of Grand Slam Turkey Call Competition Announced

After much anticipation, here are the winners of the Grand Slam Turkey Call Competition. These were selected by T&TH staff. By no means was judging easy. There were many, many excellent calls. These were the best of the best. Congratulations to everyone who entered!

Working Box Call Category

First Place: Dave Halloran, Great Valley, N.Y. Call description: checkered short box, purple heart lid
and bottom, Missouri cedar sound chamber, spalted maple ends.



Second Place: Josh Shoemaker, Lebanon, Va. Call description: Cost-style hewn-out box made of Spanish
cedar and walnut.



Third Place: Ernie Moyer, Schuylkill Haven, Pa. Call description: Working box call



Honorable Mention: Chad Zutter, Minneapolis, Minn. Call description: Long box




Working Friction Call Category


First Place: David Halloran, Great Valley, N.Y. Call description: Cherry pot cacklin' crystal over glass, with a dymondwood striker and ebony striker.



Second Place: Clint Corder, Mulberry, Tenn. Call description: Amboyna Burl Call.



Third Place: Tom Tiberi, Fairbank, Pa. Call description: Slate over glass, hand-turned walnut pot,
purple heart striker with hickory top.



Honorable Mention: Doug Keith, Ephrata, Pa. Call description: Walnut pot with maple inlay, strikers of hickory with a burnt tip and carbon.



Honorable Mention: Jerry Elmore, Greenwood, Ark. Call description: 3-inch slate call with cherry pot and cherry sound board with walnut striker and hickory striker, both with maple tops.



Honorable Mention: Zink Custom Calls, Port Clinton, Ohio. Call description: Power Slate.

Really good sounding calls in my opinion. Along with who knows how many others, I'd be interested  buying one of the boxes or pot calls.
