A bunch of really nice looking Merriams gobblers there, Ethan. 
My perspective is a little different about hunting here in New Mexico, though.  I like to think of it as getting lion and bear season out of the way while awaiting spring gobbler season!!

PS Ethan, what kind of weight are you seing on your birds? They look big.

No, Bobby, Ethan said that!  I just pointed out the priority difference between us.  ....Besides, I hardly ever see mountain lions and bears at the same time....not more than once or twice a month.  Heck, sometimes I'll go a whole month without seeing both of 'em at once. 
 
Now, don't go gettin' cold feet on me, buddy!  The bears around the cabin are doin' okay, but the lions are lookin' a little puny.  I'm hopin' they can hold out til next spring when the food starts showin' up!

You might consider a camo'ed bikers helmet ; the bears will go for your head . A camo'ed neck brace ; the lions will go for the neck . A full body Harley-Davidson , leather suit to wear under your camo ; just a small price to pay in order to prevent thorns , cactus , and SNAKES from perforating your hide . And lastly , but not the least , a BIG BORE REVOLVER.

Man, I haven't been on here in a long time!  You guys are too much!

Jim, I'm glad to see you are keeping everyone on their toes!

Bobby- the 2 biggest birds this year were 24 and 24 1/2
I weigh everyone's birds and 20-22 is common for mature toms
18 is average for a 2 year olds here.

25 lbs 4 oz is our best ever- taken 3 seasons ago

And watch out for the lions when you're clucking in this southwest country!!!
