This morning turned out to be a very successful morning after a slow start. Last night I went and roosted at least 2 birds and knew right where to go this morning. However, after I was set up the only calling was from a hen while gobbling was taking place everywhere except for where my dad and I were set up. I decided that I might as well try a tree yelp and sure enough a tom sounded off behind our setup where I figured he was. Then 1 more and another and yet 1 more. 4 gobblers going crazy and making a ton of noise. However, they flew down over the hill instead of staying on top and the field and I figured we were done. But we weren't. I continued to call and soon 3 jakes came silently strutting in. My dad picked the lead jake and rolled him at 35 yards. A nice 16 pounder with a 4 1/4 inch beard.
