When life gives you lemons

Postby kygobbler » February 4th, 2014, 9:49 pm

The last 3 months has been a roller coaster ride of emotions for me and my wife. First my trusty Rodeo that I have had for going on 14 years and put every 268k miles with no problems what so ever, finally lost a cylinder and have to get a new motor. Then we find out some good news only to find out the good news was false hope. Then tonight I receive this picture from my wife while I'm at work.

Luckily the tree just missed the boat and just grazed the house with no damage.

So now that I have lemons now its time to make lemonade. The tree was a pig nut hickory and came up by the roots. Maybe a can make a call out of the tree. Thank goodness its a huge tree because I might need all of it to make one call.

Not sure what's in the pic, but I'll take it as not good, but it sounds like there wasn't any major damage, it does suck tho when more than one " opportunity" hits at the same time, you seem to have the best outlook, good luck, keep the faith......post some pics of them calls, ya hear ;)

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your wifey. The great thing is the Rodeo can be fixed, the tree missed the boat the house and anyone else in the house. Heck now you can take that fallen tree and make the worlds largest turkey call just like they did on Duck Dynasty.

Glad the house a family is OK. Sorry to hear about the SUV. Hey man now you don't have to worry about throwin' hicker' nuts through the windows when ya mow the grass. By the way cut that sucker up before she cures into granite on ya  .

Scott those are some beautiful calls.

Ted, unfortunately its not a hickory like I thought. Its an oak that I can't figure out which family. I have about 8 or 9 pignut hickorys in the yard and i always try to make sure that Im mowing away from the house.
