Very true Jim, but for the winter months the birds hang around this area because the marsh has a lot of red willow brush in it, the red willows carry their seeds all year until spring when the new buds knock them off, so the birds have food all winter, the pheasants, grouse, turkeys feed off those seeds all winter. The dragon flys lay their eggs on the weeds in the marsh and the larvie grow in bulbs that form on the weeds all winter, they are like the little mouseies that we use for ice fishing, the birds knock over the weeds and pick the larvie out of the bulbs for food also, can't remember just what the name of the weeds are? There is a lot of them in that area and with the red willow it offers a lot of food for them.
