10ga turkey shells

Postby bamabirdbuster13 » December 21st, 2013, 12:10 am

all 10 ga turkey shells i see only have 2oz of shot in them. the guuy who makes my turkey calls says you can get nitro to make a 3oz shell, but i was looking for something at the 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 level in a factory shell. anybody know why they only make a 2oz shell
Imma give him a headache B.C cant fix

2oz is great plenty of shot to do the job, increasing the oz's of shot also increases the recoil of the gun and slows down the fps of the shell and effects the range of the 10ga in a factory load.

x2

Interesting, as I looked through my 10's Federal Premiums, I see I have some older # 4, #5, and #6's, that are 2 1/4oz and 4 1/2 dram eq. .. with no FPS noted.
My newer #5's, have 2oz of shot, 1300fps, and just say max dram eq..
I need to use it more ,and set my Benelli down, but at 10 yrds, I know the 10 can take the top of a Toms head off  Sure is a mess carrying it back to the truck
Ever wonder where the white goes when the snow melts????
