If you and the person you are hunting with dont then try and do some scouting before the season starts. Turkey hunting looks very easy on TV and listening to some people's stories but the truth is it can be easy at times but sometimes be a pain in the butt. Sometimes be both on the same hunt. Make sure you practice your calls as much as you can and try and learn as much as you can from the birds because they are the best teachers.

I plan to by a hen decoy and a jake decoy ( cheap ones ) and have it set up as the Jake is trying to "get" ( ) with the hen. I will use a yelp call using misoiltesters' s box call, use treerosters slate call and a diaphragm call, and Charlie elks push button call. I will use the slate call to make some Jake mating sounds, the box call for a yelp, and the push button for which ever ! I will use some #5 shot 12 gauge 2 3/4 " loads ( still deciding on what loads that are cheap to try ) with a full choke. I assume I can make it to about 30 yards with this setup, I want a load with at least 1 1/4 ounces of lead. So what do you think ? I will be wearing camo and a turkey hunting hat, courtesy of misoiltesters. I will be hunting the edge of forest and fields with a surprising wetland area and hardwood forests. If you live in Ohio, then it is Deer Creek, if you don't live in Ohio, then you probably don't know it. It is a wildlife area with a campground, lodge, golf course, and giant lake that is awesome to fish on. Please leave feedback on if you think this is a good idea or not.
P.S. The load I am looking at is the Winchester Super X High Brass Game load in #5 or #6 or# 4 shot. 15$ for a box of 25 from Dicks. I may also get the Remington Express High Brass in the same shot sizes. Both are 2 3/4 " shells with around 1 1/4 ounces of lead and are shooting around 1330 fps. I know these may be a little light, but these are cheap enough.
