Jr., You'll probably have to look and see what is available in 4 & 5 lead loads. In a 12, you should be able to get a good fast, yet heavy ,1 1/4 oz magnum load in a 2 3/4" shell ;)

I use to reload & shoot(well still do on ocasions) a hot #5 lead, 1 1/4 oz, reload, that is as fast and equal to a mag. load :o
Ever wonder where the white goes when the snow melts????

Winchester Supreme High Velocity or their XX turkey shells are pretty good. I think they shoot 1 1/2 ounce of shot and come in 4, 5, or 6 shot. I am sure there are other 2 3/4 inch shells that would work, especially if you are only going to 30 yards.

Either of the above shells will have enough pellet energy to kill a turkey out to 45 yards (in any shot size 4, 5, or 6). But you MUST also have the pattern density. A turkey is shot in the head & neck but the vital area that actually kills the turkey is the skull and vertebrae of the turkey. This is a considerably smaller area than the head & neck. I like to see a pattern dense enough to give me 4 or 5 hits in the skull & vertebrae at my max range to kill a turkey. I use 6 shot.

My pal Skully here shows you the vitals on a turkey and you can eliminate the beak and the eye socket area.

As far as this turkey thing......I know enough...to know enough...that I don't know enough

Winchester, Federal, or Fiocchi, all make a good 2-3/4" shell that will take a bird out to 35-40 yds.
I shoot the Fiocchi 12ga 2-3/4", 1-3/8oz nickel plated, 1485 fps, Golden Pheasant high velocity loads in my sxs and have no problems taking birds out to 35 yds with a full or mod choke. They hold a great pattern better than most I've seen. They sell for about $18. per 25 shells in 4, 5, 6.
