long time ...

Postby homunculi » December 5th, 2013, 1:16 pm

been a while since i have been able to log in on this forum .. my browser would say i was logged in but not allow me to read or write any posts

as for fall season this year i struck out .. work has not been copperating with my hunting wants ..
hope everyone had a good and safe season this year

my only chances to get a turkey this year was the sunday before thanksgiving placed a shot on one with the crossbow.. got out of the blind found my bolt .. blades deployed blood on the arrow but ... no turkey to be found ( not feeling to good about that) walked the woods and creek and down into the vally in the direction i seen the bird go .. after 2 hours of looking .. i gave up .. :(

thanksgiving morning got out and set up with the xbow ready for a turkey or a deer ... as daylight was breaking the turkey were yelping in the roost .. things were looking good for the morning ..
when they started flying down i started to get excited they were rosted in trees 50 yards from my blind ... i hear more yelping off to my right .. thinking i was going to get a gobbler..
i could see heads and wings on the other side of a dead tree .. about 35 yards from me .. they were coming in ..

ready to go .. wating for them to get to my side of the dead tree .. i hear a door up at my inlaws house .. thought no big deal till i heard someone shout my name and say "don't shoot"
they brought me out a donut and some coffee .........
then asked if i seen anything ... my reply "there WAS some turkey just on the other side of the dead tree when you shouted my name"
so i got to sit till dinner time seeing and hearing nothing ..

I wonder why nobody ever brought me coffee & doughnuts to my blind :(

Sad always, to loose a bird, and sure know how you feel!!! ;)

Yep, I understand the frustration. Do you have any more chances left to hunt?
