Meet Myrtle

Postby Dixie Belle » November 22nd, 2013, 7:13 pm

Milled a piece of wood I've been air drying for a while. It's some of the Crepe Myrtle I picked up from a neighbor's yard waste pile (posted as "Raw Materials" a while back). Built this slate/glass pot with a Cedar striker. Decided to call her "Myrtle" !
She sounds "gooooood, like one o' them 'seeductive' women ;) "
So here she is Knots, warts, worm holes and all  .
Thanks for looking,
Ted

Thanks guys,
Even though it was dry and hard the myrtle had a tendency to want to flake if you cut too sharp an edge, so that's why I didn't cut my normal finger groove around the circumference of the pot. I even had to roll the edge on the inset for the slate. Anyway something named "Myrtle" ought to have well rounded curves ;) .
