My Merriam Jake

Postby RockyMtnGobblers » June 1st, 2013, 7:19 pm

I got my bird, not my usual gobbler but a nice Jake with a 3 1/8 inch Beard.
I had 7 Jakes come by the day before and 3 times the day I decided I needed to take one as it was my last hunting trip. Now that I have my bird I wish I waited to see if the gobbler came in later.

Well said KY. Great looking Merriam and congratulations. Had you waited for that gobbler to show up he may never have have and a Jake is certainly better than tag soup.

There's nothing wrong with it being a jake, one of the best eating birds out there. Congrats :D anytime you can fool a bird at his own game it's a trophy bird.

You're right about "tag soup", and getting a jake, on a hunt out of state, is just plain "sweet revenge" ;)

I ended with a tag left over in Mexico :o No jakes at all that last morning
Ever wonder where the white goes when the snow melts????
