I've been too afraid to do that. There are somethings left best unknown. I would say that untill this year my vest would weigh about 8 lbs also but this year I cut back quite a bit. This year I only carried 4 pot calls and 6 strikers and thats it.

not bad walking in, but its usually 20-some pounds heavier on the trek back to the truck. (well, sometimes) :D
piqued my curiosity so i went out and weighed it - 5 pounds exactly. surprised me; i figured it would weigh more.
i used to carry way too much stuff, so when i needed a new vest a couple years ago i got an ol tom time and motion vest. great gear specific pocket design.
i now pack 3 pots w/3 strikers for each, a box, gobble shaker, tube call, mouth call pouch with 4 diaphragms, call conditioners, chalk, 3 xtra shells, pocket knife, mini snippers, small binos, xtra facemask and gloves, turkey tote, shop rag paper towel and mushroom sack.
and i thought i traveled light
(C&P'd from my post on that other site  )

My super elite 3 weighed 9 pounds when I checked earlier but it is probably closer to 10 when I have water, knife and other stuff in there.

Throw in a shotgun, bag of decoys and a 20 pound turkey and it adds up but I always have a smile when this happens.

If I have the radio, extra batteries, and binoculars it weighs around 10 pounds.

It normally weighs around 8 pounds.

Aside from the vest, I also always carry a gobbler lounger and I take along decoys about 25% of the time, but they are not in the vest.

I'm heaviest when I'm hunting with a crossbow. I look about like a pack mule; stake blind(s), crossbow, cocking device, gobbler lounger, decoys, plus my vest. I probably don't want to know what all that weighs...less than my climbing deer stand and hunting pack though.
