First one down

Postby ticklishtompro » April 27th, 2013, 2:15 pm

I got my first of the year this morning. I will post a full story when I have more time. 22lb, 10 inch beard, 3/4 inch spurs.

It has unique coloring on the fan, like a stripe, never seen one like this before.

Congratulations on the first one of the year. How many more tags do you have left and what seasons?

I have a tag for the final season yet, but am guiding a newbie next week, 2 daughters with tags, 5th season a hunt with Brian Lovett, and a couple more people if I can squeeze them in. Will be out tomorow morning filming and calling for my nephew.

A great and quick hunt this morning. Me and my nephew Travis, the maker of the calls went out. Set up and the birds started gobbling within 60 yards. I didn't think they would be that close. The birds gobbled much more today than they did yesterday and responded great to the calls. Three gobblers came, only two left. Got it all on video again. Things are really heating up and I can't wait till this next week when we can do it again.

This bird was only 19lbs., but had a 10 1/2 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Still a nice bird.

After taking so many others out you certainly desire a nice turkey like this for yourself. Way to go.

Good looking couple of birds Randy, I really like that one with the stripe in the fan, that fan would be going on the wall for sure. I had a newbie out myself both days this weekend, no bird for him but we did come close both days. Had one in range yesterday AM but obstructed by brush, this morning had one strutting into the decoys when newbie says in a speaking volume voice 'hey there's a turkey in the field!". fan goes down, head comes up, birds turns around and his never seen again. Oh well, he had a good time, learned a lot, and we had some good action at least. Gobbling was better on Saturday around here, today has been pretty windy.
