I called this gobbler Candy butt because I have seen him run away from everything, hens, crow calling, and my deke. I missed a bird Thursday morning so I decided to go after Candy that afternoon. The windy had been blowing pretty hard all day so I decided I wouldn't call or put out a deke. There was a fence row that I knew he liked to travel so I set up and just waited on him to hopefully so up. He did and I was able to get him at 15 yards.
When I got home with the bird I believe my daughter was as excited as I was. She has been asking me all week if I was going to get a bird. After coming home empty handed all week I was glad just to see her face light up when she looked in the back of my Rodeo. Candy weighed 26 lbs, 10+ beard, and 1.25" spurs.
