Today was the second day of our first season here in Illinois. The birds are going crazy! Set up this morning well before daylight and although I didn't know it, a flock of about 40 birds was roosted in the white oaks above me and in about a 2 acre group of trees. I'm sure they knew something was below but it didn't seem to bother them. After they all flew down the biggest, baddest long beard fell in love with my hen decoy and the rest is history! The bird weighed 25 pounds, had a 9 1/2 inch beard, and 15/16 inch spurs. My first Illinois Gobbler was a great thrill.
