Learn To Hunt

Postby ticklishtompro » March 31st, 2013, 11:08 am

The LTH wraps up today. So far 6 birds down and 2 misses. The
Hunting was tough as the gobblers just started breaking up the end of this week and there was still a lot of snow on the ground. Some had some luck with aggressive calling or gobbler talk as the birds were more interested in fighting than loving.
Curtis's Goettsch of Mossy Oak and I had the pleasure of taking a little girl named Samantha. She was a trooper and hunted all day Friday even though we only saw 3 hens and never heard a gobble. She was rewarded Saturday morning right away when a nice 22lb. 2 year old that was chasing Jakes around heard our fighting purrs and came running in to my Avian X Jake decoy but caught a load of #4's instead of a fight. We got it all on video and I will post a link after editing is done.
Good luck to you all and take a kid out hunting.

Sorry the pic is so large. Couldn't get it to post on my laptop but it worked from my phone.
I will try to resize and repost.

Great work Randy! I was over in Green Bay this weekend, and yeah there was still quite a bit of snow around. Saw a lot of all gobbler groups, and very little strutting. Congrats to all the young hunters.

Like others have said the smiles on those youngsters faces says it all. Hats off to you for taking the time to show these youngsters the a turkey hunting experience.

Thanks for the opportunity to meet some of those young hunters. Congratulations to all the hunters, weather wise it was not the most favorable for turkey hunting and all persevered. Way to go.
What a great bunch of guys in the Howard's Grove hunt club who sponsor these learn to hunt experiences. If I were closer I would enjoy being a regular active member.
