1st accidental fanning bird

Postby bamabirdbuster13 » March 16th, 2013, 6:22 pm

well he wasnt the biggest ive ever killed but he was the biggest from this property. killed right off the roost straight looking for me. i was actually trying to set dekes when he ran in on me in the middle of the bald open bending down putting dekes up.i knelt down behind the full strut and waited until he closed those last 10 yards . i was so scared to get from behind the deke i shot the bird one handed. that son of a gun was coming to judo kick that decoy

Hunting is funny like that. that should make up for some of the hard times the birds have given you. nice lookong piece of land.

thanks guys.that piece of land is crazy scenic .we were first set on the fenceline behind me to the far right end facing another field. that bird was roosted like 500 yrds back in the swamp and i killed him where i was standing at 7:15. that dude was coming on a mission. he only gobbled like once to my call and the day before didnt even gobble off roost
