That young man looks very calm.  Great to get it on film.  Was it his first?

No, I know he killed a nice one last year because I played a small part in the killing.  His dad is a pastor who makes some very nice working cane and Jordan style yelpers.  We had both spent some time on another forum and when his son drew a hunt near my home, he inquired if I knew where the turkeys would likely be on that tract.  We e-mailed back and forth as we simultaneously examined quad maps and aerial photos and talked back and forth about the most likely places to work a gobbler.  We settled on 3-4 locations and at the one he chose they struck paydirt.

Thanks Silvestris, I need to send my son down.  I always find a way to mess up his hunts.  Oh well we can learn together.

The only way you can mess up a kid's hunt is by allowing his expectations to be to high.  Laugh about the mistakes.  Let him or her become enchanted with the myriad of ways an old gobbler can turn what at first glimpse appeared so certain a kill into escape.
