its a sad sad world[8|]

Where do you sight yours in?

I get at least a dozen hits in the neck bones and skull at 50 yds...at least...often it's more, many more.

its hard to guesstimate 80 yards while sitting against a tree, huh

Not with a range finder and a ranging reticle it's not.

Where have I been?  I work!

And with regard to the 40 yard limit I'm just going to have to disagree. Realistically, I think advances in shotguns, scopes, advances in chokes and barrels, and the development of shot like TSS have stretched the ethical range.  Probably not to 70 yards and certainly not to 80, but 60?  Could be.  Does it negate some of the skill you guys (and me to a degree - I'm still trying) have developed?  Yeah, it does.  Such is progress.  Muzzle loaders have been mentioned on here.  Muzzle loaders used to be a 50 to 75 yard propostion.  Look at them now.  They have muzzle loaders in kit form that Joe-six-pack can buy, sight in on the week end , and kill a deer at 150 yards with.  A marksman could stretch it even farther.  Shotguns too, with rifled barrels, scopes and sabot slugs.  Might as well call them a rifle.  How ya' gonna stop progress?  People clammor for new and better toys and the arms industry happily supplies them.

I do try.  But I sound like some demented chicken when I call.  I have a looooong way to go.
